Corner View: The Great Outdoors

I had some great photos for you this week, but we are experiencing major hard drive failure at our house.  (We know....back it up!)  Our Mac was only 11 months old and the hard drive is dead.  (With most of our pictures.)  We had just been talking about backing it up, but we were too late.  I am devastated, as all of the Squeeze's photos and videos were on there.  It still makes me cry when I think about it.

So, instead of some interesting photos, this week Corner View is a little make-shift for me...

This is how we play outdoors in the snow:
This is Hawaii.  Not in my corner.  Just wish it was.  Especially this week.
That is a building in the background, but I do love the plants here!
One of my favorite things about Utah is that we have everything (except a beach)! We have red rock, mountains, valleys, lakes, fields, etc.  I love it!
So, that sums up the Great Outdoors in my corner.  (sort of.)

Hopefully we'll get this hard drive drama fixed.  Clicking hard drives are never a good thing, I have learned too late.
Any recommendations for fixing this?  (If it is possible...)

Also, take a trip around the world from your computer.

Oh, Dear... I knoe exactly what you feel- last year my computer broke down and I lost thousands of photos. This is so so upsetting. I should back up this computer and I usually say: I'll do it tomorrow. But after reading your post I'm gonna do it immediately.

Maybe it is possible to fix your hard drive? Maybe not everything is lost...

Thank you for sharing your corner, Utah looks tempting to visit :)

Have a happy day,
Kasia x

Oh, no! And you know what, I'm just like Kasia with backing up, and I'm also going to back up immediately ... after touring the world!

sometimes they can retrieve them even from a computer that's totally dead...don't ask me how - but worth a try - i learned that when lightning struck our house a couple of years ago! good luck!

Ohoh...that is indeed very upsetting. I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it can be repaired. (it makes the typing a bit difficult, but if it helps, no problem)
Big hug, Jeannette

ups - I'm sorry to hear this! these are bad news.

Yeah that really is heartbreaking. But it sounds like you have options. I will compile all of the pictures I have of your little bug if that helps.

I love Utah! I love the outdoors. I don't even mind not having a beach (Bob would dissagree) although we do have Lake Powell and it's pretty kick a

So different, so amazing and beautiful.

you say you've had the mac only 11 months? if that is so, go to the apple store (or call/email apple) and talk to them. everything is covered for a year. and yes, they can perform miracles with recovering data.

fingers crossed...

Good luck with your hard drive. Wish I could offer you something helpful. Perhaps the freshness of a 'clean slate' will bring you a new power that you hadn't imagined.
Look forward to see your continuing views,
best,
Joanne

oy. picture loss. horrible flashbacks !! ha ha. i had this happen to me ... i was a new mac user and it was my fault not the mac's ... luckily, i store a lot of my photos in photobucket which is online and has nothing to do with the hard drive. you should look into it. free. easy. good backup !!

Thanks everyone! We are taking the hard drive in to see if it will spin for the pictures to be taken off. If not--it would have to go to a data retrieval company to see if the data is even still there...And that costs so much! Cross your fingers for us that it will spin and we can pull it off!

malo said...

I'll cross my fingers for you and hope they can help you with the pictures. It could happen to me too. I always plan to back up but never really get to it.

I love your pictures of Utah - you have lots of blue sky there :)

I especially love your wishful thinking about Hawaii.

We had a new iMac last year (maybe about 11 mos ago too) and it had a bad fan. They switched us out with a new computer that was a slightly different model and did the data transfer at the apple store. We had the white one with a wireless keyboard. Now it's brushed metal and a not-wireless keyboard. Maybe that info helps?

Wow, I bet you had some awesome photos of Utah--one of the greatest places for outdoor fun. I don't do the Corner View, but sure would have loved to have gone in on this one, as I think I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth--the Great Northwest (and we have a beach, hee hee). But we don't have the cool red rock or awesome mesas that southern Utah has.
